Metamizole is a pyrazolonic derivative, which belongs to the group of non-narcotic analgesics and antipyretics. It displays strong analgesic, antipyretic, antiinflammatory and spasmolytic action. It relieves pains of various origins. Its analgesic effects are similar to the effects of opiate analgesics, and result from the central and the peripheral action of the drug. The central action of metamizole is depression of pain sensation in the central nervous system, while peripheral action is inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis and reduction of the nociceptor sensitivity to the other mediators such as bradykinine and histamine.

Severe pains of various origins: headache, toothache, neuralgia of n. trigeminus, herpes zoster, lumbago, ischialgia, pains associated with acute and chronic rheumatism, extra-articular rheumatism, muscular pains, posttraumatic pains, postoperative pains, pains in malignant diseases, renal and biliary colic.
